Reflection:
At the beginning of this course I thought: why practice “2”??? Aren't 40 sessions enough? But while I was presenting my session observed by Dr. Shatila I found out that practice is important, and that I really learned a lot from practice 1.
I am now a senior student so I took almost all education courses and I really benefited from applying almost all what I learned. “Classroom management” and “Educational Technology” are two of the most courses contents I used in my practice.
I love dealing with most kids and this practice made me realize that some kids are really innocent from the inside and are excited to learn especially if having fun while doing so.
Assembling this portfolio provided with a feeling of joy of my work, because I saw it all in front of my eyes. I saw my work throughout the whole thing put and arranged together.
After conducting the three sessions of standing in front of students and trying my best to make it as fun and easy to grasp as possible, reflecting on it allows to develop the sense of self-observing and self-evaluation where thinking about what was done, why doing it, and did it work or not pushes me to the fact that improvements and changes need to be changed concerning my teaching style or even in the way I plan the session.
Practice teaching made me feel that outstanding relation between the teacher and students, in addition to enlightening me how students like to cooperate, how they like to learn, how to seize their attention. Reading from books, and gazing at other teacher’s experiences doesn’t give that much insight as when we student-teachers get in contact with the real-life situations.
Giving feedback to students didn't occur to my mind that it could help in motivating them to do better and better, that thing I have experienced it through the feedback I used to note down on students’ exams, or even quizzes. In addition, throughout the growth during the three sessions I have been emphasized in being on time and getting the tasks done in time.
Throughout practice teaching II, definitely I have gone through the cycle of professional growth, by which I have gained a better understanding of my own individual teaching styles where I will be able to improve my effectiveness in the future classroom.
“Practice 2” is a course I think I’ll always remember, and I think I will always try to avoid some things I did that weren't supposed to be done.
